Friday 25th May 2018 Hong Kong

We had a free day today, had a lazy start.  Went down to breakfast at 9.30 pm, then headed over to the library afterwards.  It isn’t far from our hotel.  Our tour guide assured us it was worth visiting. We have been inside some magnificent libraries in different cities around the world.  We were a bit dubious, but happy for our thoughts to be unfounded.  When we saw the outside of the building our doubts grew bigger! Think I was back at our hotel room within 20 minutes of setting out! ?  Greg went back to the market we visited a few days ago to buy another powerbank.

I rang housekeeping and asked for an iron and ironing board, as there was unfortunately a bit of ironing to do.  The ironing board that was sent up was so tiny, like it was for a child.  The ones we had in China were taller than this one.  Made backbreaking work of the ironing! ?

Around 1pm we headed downstairs to catch the hotel shuttle bus to the Peninsula Hotel for High Tea.  The shuttle doesn’t run at 1pm however! So we hopped in a taxi.  They are an old style car, a Toyota crown.  We were going 60-80km per hour and I honestly thought we were going to take off. The car was shaking!  Anyhow we survived, arrived in 7 mins, the shuttle took 20mins yesterday!

High tea starts at 2pm, you can’t book unless you are staying at the hotel, you can start queuing from 1.30pm.  We decided to have a drink while we waited.  It is a very grand hotel.  There were 3 people playing beautiful music on the double bass, flute and violin.  It was going to be a memorable afternoon.

Around 2pm we were seated at a nice table where we could see the musicians.  I was in my element. High tea was beautifully presented and delicious.  The afternoon definitely rated up there with some of the best High Teas we have had.  Afterwards we had a wander around the hotel.  We spent a bit over 3 hours there, I enjoyed it all, especially the company ?

A funny/stupid thing happened at High tea, I was sending a photo to B & C of us and the high tea but instead of pressing message, I pressed on airdrop and sent it to someone else in the room ?  A few days ago I had been showing some people on our tour how to airdrop photos and forgot to change my setting back to ‘friends’ instead of ‘everyone’ OOOPS!  A lady nearby was laughing, wonder if I sent it to her ?

We caught the 4.30pm shuttle back to the hotel.  We met some people from our tour as we got back.  They were just getting back from a day tour that we chose not to go on.  Was good to get to say goodbye to them.  They head home to the US tomorrow morning.   Our flight leaves around 8pm.   We will probably get home around the same time.

We are going to have a relaxing evening in the hotel, we live in hope that we might get to sleep before 11.30pm!!  An early night would be good, we have a long day ahead of us tomorrow.   There is a flower market near here, we will go and check it out in the morning.  We are being collected around 5pm from the hotel and being taken to the airport.

Looking forward to getting home, seeing family and friends and meeting those gorgeous puppies. ??
