Australia  The East Bit     Day 47 Byron Bay NSW 21 Aug 2016

This morning we went into Byron just to walk around the shops, streets and beach to have a relaxing look around.

It was lots of fun, the people watching was great, as we had experienced right from day 1 here. We got into “town” around 10:30 and there was already a buzz around the place, so many youngsters (LOL) doing what they do.  One shop seemed to have been just opening and had a crowd about 10 deep outside. We walked past it later and it looked like they had a UFC fight live on about 6 TV’s inside. When we got to the beach there was a huge mix of people, some sunbaking on the lawns above the beach, others down on the beach, many younger peeps wandering around playing PoGo, and down by the breakwater we saw a small group with a motorised tow rope skimboarding at the edge of the water. It took a while to get it right, but the guy eventually got up and rode the board for about 50-60m, before jumping off and just stopping before the rocks. It looked like a lot of fun.

We continued our walk along the beachfront and had lunch at a new café/restaurant called “The Beach” at Clarkes Beach. We shared our lunch space outside with a Bush Turkey that seemed to want to share our food. We were its second choice, the first family somehow managed to get it to move on, we couldn’t get it to do the same for us.

The Cafe has a magnificent view down over the beach and the point to the south.  There were lots of surfers out enjoying some very small waves.

We had a quiet afternoon after that and finished our day with a walk from our CP to the southern end of Tallow Beach and back. The tide was out and it was a very relaxing way to finish our day.
