Australia The East Bit Day 25 & 26 Bowen Qld 30th & 31st July 2016

Day 25 Bowen Qld   30 July 2016

Hello 🙂 We had a good day yesterday, did a bit of shopping, some Ingress and had a look at all of the beaches.    There are some really lovely little beaches and people were swimming at all of them.    Has been 25C for a few days now, and blue skies, very pleasant.

In the afternoon, we were contacted by a local ingress player who wanted to meet up with us, so we told him where we were and he came straight over.   A young man in his 20’s on a Harley turned up.    A higher level player in Mackay sent him to meet us!   We chatted for a while, he was interesting.   I asked him what he did for a living, he said he was retired.   That made me laugh and I said, just like us!   I enjoyed meeting Leonard, we have met a lot of people playing Ingress and seen a lot of sites we otherwise wouldn’t have.   It is fun and keeps us amused.  🙂

We had arranged to meet up with Val & Berend for tea at the yacht club.   We met Berend down at the Marina where his boat is moored and he took us across to it in a little dingy.   A fabulous yacht built in the 1980’s.   I loved it, inside was all wooden.   My imagination ran wild, felt like I was Huckleberry Finn having adventures.    Berend is having it fixed up at the moment then they are going to take it sailing and have their own adventures!

After we were shown around and had a drink we got back in the dingy, 4 of us this time, very cosy and headed over to the sailing club for tea, was a lovely meal.  I really enjoyed swapping stories  and catching up.   Val & I have been friends for about 26 years, we met through our sons, Ben & Michael who were friends.   I was really pleased that we ended up In the same place at the same time and were able to see each other, was fun.

Day 26   Bowen Qld  31 July 2016

Berend and Val are sailing out this morning down to Airlie Beach.  We arranged to go down to the Marina at 10am to take a photo of them sailing out.    I had to get the washing done today, I had the first load on at 7.30am, so we would be ready in time.    Greg had gone out to Ingress and came back at 8.30am to say Val had sent us a message to say they were leaving in 10 minutes.   I was in the middle of cleaning the floor of the van and the last load of washing was due to finish in 10 minutes!!   You don’t leave finished washing in the washing machine of the CP laundry when others will need to use the machine, so I went and finished the cycle – it was just about done anyway, threw the washing in the washing basket, Greg had brought the car around, I threw the basket In the back of the car and off we scooted to the Marina, only a few minutes away in the car.   As we pulled up there they were just leaving the marina!!  Perfect timing!   Was lovely watching them sail away, we waved, took lots of photos and stayed until they were off in the distance.   Was a lovely moment.  🙂

(We have finally had our website fixed and can add photos, evidently we needed more memory!)

We headed back to the caravan park and hung out the last of the washing.

When we were out yesterday we spotted a McDonalds, so after the washing was done we took our phones and our tablets, to McDonalds and I updated our apps and downloaded some more podcasts and Greg went next door where there was a carwash and cleaned the car, I got the better end of that deal!

Afterwards we went for a drive back up to the lookout we were at yesterday.  The water was a beautiful colour, there were yachts out racing, we took some more photos, but they just didn’t do the view justice.

We are off to Airlie Beach tomorrow, I am looking forward to our Island cruise on Tuesday.

As I type this, our nephew Brian is playing football at Adelaide oval, he is captain of the SA country team, they are playing WA.    He is having an amazing year, he works really hard and we are very proud of him.

I forgot to mention we also went to a great market at Queens Beach, was really lovely at the park overlooking the beach. Bought an amazing chicken satay each. Didn’t buy any breadboards but was tempted. I did suggest we could dedicate a cupboard at home for breadboards. And Greg added along with the two cupboards for vases!!

I’ve just caught up on the last week! What a wonderful trip you’re having. Glad the website is fixed for photos now. I love your photos.

Maybe we could have an interactive map following you along around Australia too please ? 😉
